Monsha’at: Practical SME Guidance Before an AI Project
Monsha’at supports the Saudi SME ecosystem through business guidance, training, support centres and other services. For an owner considering AI, its practical value starts with making the business problem and next decision clear.
Start with the available service
The official portal lists SME Support Centers, Nawafth advisory services, Monsha’at Academy, Enterprise Size Certificates and other business services. Each service has its own access process. Advisory access is not approval for a loan or an AI implementation grant.
The national portal’s Nawafth instructions describe registration through Nafath or the Monsha’at unified profile, then choosing the relevant service. Check the channel, appointment availability and required documents before planning around it.
Bring a one-page project brief
- The present problem and one measured baseline: missed calls, re-entry time or booking errors.
- The current systems and responsible employees, including the person who will operate the new workflow.
- A narrow proposed change and a cheaper or simpler alternative.
- Implementation and recurring costs, a realistic budget and whether financing is actually needed.
- Customer data, language and integration constraints, plus the decisions requiring specialist advice.
Keep the support routes distinct
Kafalah guarantees eligible financing assessed through lenders. HRDF provides employment support under its own conditions. SDAIA leads data and AI policy and PDPL oversight. A referral or classification does not establish eligibility for all three.
For growth programmes such as Tomoh, check current admission criteria and services directly. A successful AI deployment does not automatically confer programme membership, funding or procurement preference.
Use advice to improve the decision
After a session, document the specific recommendation, official application channel and unresolved questions. Ask vendors for a written scope and measurable acceptance criteria. Proceed only when the project makes commercial sense without unapproved support; advisory services should help you choose well, including choosing a simpler solution.
Plan a practical implementation
Discuss your project scope, with costs, controls and responsibilities defined before launch.
